Is there summer school?
Each child is given a summer reading list at the close of the school
year for
individual study and enjoyment. Academic summer school will be held
each
August for two weeks. There will be a one-week break between academic
summer
school and the first day of Fall classes. This is an excellent chance
to prepare for the
upcoming year and, although is only mandatory for new students, is
highly
recommended for all students.

What is your homework
policy; how much homework might my child have each night?
The purpose of homework at Carden Day School of San Jose is to
reinforce
material learned throughout the day and to teach organizational and
time
management skills. Homework begins the second semester of 1st Grade and
continues throughout 8th Grade. Time required will vary for each child
and grows
as the child matures. Generally, the younger students will have
approximately
30 minutes of work with the oldest children given two-plus hours each
night.
We believe strongly that homework is the responsibility of the child
and each
will be given the direction he or she needs to complete assignments
without
parental supervision.
